Purple Potato Bakery
Purple Potato Bakery serves cakes, doughnuts, cookies and other baked goods familiar to Americans, while adding subtle modifications based on chef Ramir DeCastro's Filipino heritage. The business is named after one of its favorite ingredients: the ube purple potato, which brings flavor, texture and color to every recipe. The bakery is also fond of young coconuts, calamansi citrus fruit and yema caramel custard.
Doughnuts are the house favorite, made in a multi-day process similar to a gourmet French croissant. Polvoron doughnuts are covered in shortbread and include a choice of filling. DeCastro also makes some of the best cookies you'll try in Las Vegas – thick, moist and chewy – and two warm savory dishes: BBQ chicken hand pies and caldereta beef stew.
The Purple Potato is inside a quiet strip mall on Flamingo Road between the Strip and Summerlin. There are a few tables if you plan to stick around, but the bakery does most of its business with pickup and delivery orders.
