Bob Taylor's Original Ranch House

$ $

In the promised land of steakhouses, Bob Taylor’s remains one of the oldest and most rustic, worth the drive to northwestern Las Vegas. Local writer Jen Avison Smith lists this as one of her favorite steakhouses in the Valley, while Neon Feast creator Al Mancini notes that “civilization has encroached on this restaurant’s location over the years, and it’s not as rural as it once was — but the old-school vibes remain.”

Park on the gravel road outside to enter a homey, Western-themed restaurant specializing in very reasonably priced steaks, seafood and succulent sides. Cuts of meat range from two sizes of juicy Filet Mignon cuts to the Diamond Jim Brady New York, weighing in at a behemoth 32 ounces (and free if you can eat it all). Not to be ignored, a variety of fish and chicken dishes hold well-deserved real estate on the menu, and the lunch menu offers sandwiches and burgers for fans of casual delights. Sides are ranch potatoes, garlic cheese bread and standard vegetables with dinners. Come open-minded for dessert and ask the server what’s available that day. Among the wide drink selection, Bob Taylor’s is ultimately the perfect steakhouse to split a bottle of wine and draw out the hours.
