Metro Pizza (Multiple Locations)
Metro Pizza scored big among those surveyed. And a number of the experts specifically mentioned the chainlet’s newest location on Sky Pointe Drive in the northern part of the valley, where it shares space with sister establishment Lulu’s Bread & Breakfast. (It's also where you're most likely to find managing partner Chris Decker flipping pies.)
Metro’s roots date to the East Coast in 1928. But even its Las Vegas presence brings a lot of history. Co-owners and cousins John Arena and Sam Facchini made the move west in 1980 and became beloved to Las Vegans, eventually expanding to five locations. Arena’s continued pizza education has been so extensive he’s even taught a college course in it.
The New York-born cousins, and their protégé Decker, have acquired an appreciation for numerous styles of pies. At Metro you’ll find thick, thin and ultra-thin pizzas. The signature Metro has a thick crust and extra cheese. Many are named for famous pizza-making centers, such as The Gotham (pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage, green peppers, ground beef and cheese), The Milano (white pizza with mozzarella, ricotta and garlic) and The Bleecker Street (Italian sausage and garlic). Appetizers, salads, subs and calzones also are served.
