The George Sportsmen's Lounge
Out of all the restaurants at the new Durango resort in the Southwest Valley, The George Sportsmen's Lounge seems the most eager to reinvent the wheel. Think of it as a "sports bar plus." No matter where you sit, there are dozens of televisions in sight to watch the latest game. Some tables also have unobstructed views of the neighboring sportsbook. Yet the best seats are outside in a climate-controlled courtyard, featuring a stadium-style slope that faces a video wall. Cornhole and other games are on standby in case you need to burn off a few calories after a meal. It's proven to be a great spot for movies, special events, as well as the occasional DJ.
The menu goes behind the usual burgers and wings (although you can enjoy those too). Highlights include a pretzel board charcuterie plate, crispy Hot Honey chicken sandwich and a choice of steaks. The flatbreads and nacho platters are easy to share. The George is the only full restaurant at Durango open 24/7, featuring an ample lineup of breakfast favorites in the morning. The weekend brunch has sharable breakfast boards with a variety of bites in one place.
A few themed cocktails are named after a different "George" — like the Clooney (a riff on an Old Fashioned) and the Takei (made with Japanese vodka). The restaurant is a no-brainer for Super Bowl, March Madness, or VGK viewing parties. Jonathan Tso of @jayteetakesabite says "The George at Durango just might be my new favorite game day spot!”
