Zippy's
Las Vegas has such a large population of Hawaiian natives, our city is often referred to as the “Ninth Island.” So the moment the Hawaiian chain Zippy’s announced that its first mainland location would be in the Southwest Valley, that community began buzzing about the tastes of home it would bring them. And after lengthy pandemic-related delays, the restaurant finally began serving Island comfort foods in late 2023, to the delight of expatriates and non-Hawaiians alike.
Food blogger Jonathan Tso (@JayTeeTakesaBite,) says that as "a Hawaiian diner staple with prices that are reasonable, this is truly a beacon for both Hawaiians longing for a taste of home and curious locals eager to explore the rich culinary traditions of the islands. Whether it's for a plate of their iconic chili over rice pr a comforting breakfast served all day, Zippy's embodies the generous and welcoming spirit of Hawaiian cuisine."
For a broad taste of the islands, opt for the Ohana Pac, which includes a fried-noodle plate, chili and Korean, katsu or fried chicken. For a sweet ending, try chocolate haupia cream pie, a lemon custard puff or an Apple Napple.
