Yui Edomae Sushi
It’s hard to say what surprises more people --that Las Vegas is home to some of the finest sushi restaurants you’re likely to find outside of Japan, or that you have to leave The Strip to find them. Chef Gen Mizoguchi demonstrates nightly that both of those are true.
Forget about the same-old-same-old that you find in most sushi joints (even those that are run by celebrity chefs). Mizoguchi flies in whatever delicacies happen to be in season in the Japanese waters that his purveyors know better than anyone, and personally oversees his team of the chefs as they treat each piece of nigiri as a work of art. If you’ve ever watched the film “Jiro Dreams of Sushi” and wondered where you could experience that level of dedication to the art of sushi, Yui is the answer.
It’s an exclusive experience, with seven seats at the sushi bar and three booths against the back wall. And it doesn’t come cheap, with tasting menus priced from $190 to $340 a head. But any serious sushi fans will tell you it’s worth every penny.
