Doanburi
$ $ $Chef Jae Doan has been all around the Vegas sushi block, having chef’d at some of our favorites like Sen of Japan, Morimoto and Mizumi before setting up shop in the West Valley.
Don’t let the sterile strip mall confuse you. Eat until full, and your check will likely go above $100pp. But Doanburi isn’t your run-of-the-mill neighborhood sushi joint. The service is elite, and the dim dining room is a perfect setting for sushi devotees to focus on delicacies like kama toro in peace. As a result, Gemini Stevens (co-host of the Food and Loathing podcast) and content creator Emily Romero (@EatMeLasVegas) both named Doanburi as their favorite sushi spot.
Doanburi is open 7 days a week from 11am to 10pm (12am on weekends) which makes it equally useful for a fun Friday lunch, a treat-yourself birthday dinner, or a light snack like the adorable house-made bread topped with creamy uni, wasabi crème fraîche, and little flowers.
The portions are small. You’re gonna wanna order lots of things like the delicate crispy shiso salt brussels sprouts, A-5 truffle wagyu gyoza, and most importantly the omakase treasure boxes. It all arrives beauteous and symmetrical, arranged with surgical care, but presented without any fuss.
