Jaleo
It's hard to find a better example of upscale Spanish cuisine on the Las Vegas Strip. Jaleo is José Andrés' signature restaurant, featuring a wide-open, high-energy dining room with a busy, wood-fired paella grill as the centerpiece. The menu is rounded out by a variety of tapas with Iberico ham and a variety of Spanish cheeses featured prominently. A few responses on our survey also singled out Jaleo for its stellar gin selection; best enjoyed as one of three gin-and-tonic cocktails. Can't decide? Try 'em all as a flight.
"You always know you’re going to get a good meal," says Lip Smacking Foodie Tours President Donald Contursi, noting the consistency of the restaurant. "They have signature dishes that don’t come off the menu (and) are a treat every time you re-experience them – and they run a lot of new dishes. So it combines the best of both worlds. And it’s just a fun experience."
Despite the elevated nature of the food, the atmosphere is loose and lively. So don't be surprised to see an order of croquetas servedon a plate shaped like a chicken, or a few ambitious guests drinking straight from a porron (a wine pitcher) with as much distance as possible encouraged between their lips and the spout. Jaleo is also home to é by José Andrés, a small, semi-secret restaurant-within-a-restaurant with just two seatings a night for an eclectic tasting menu of European gastronomy.
