Oscar's Steakhouse

The view may now be partially blocked by the Slotzilla zip line, but Oscar's Steakhouse still has incredible vantage points for soaking in the colorful lights and energy of Fremont Street. Named in honor of former mayor and mob lawyer Oscar Goodman, the decorations pay tribute to an older era of Las Vegas, while maintaining a contemporary sensibility, including a newly added terrace that hangs off the side of the Plaza hotel. Goodman himself is a familiar sight at the bar, signature martini in hand, and occasionally hosts mob-themed special dinners that are full of stories (although those are becoming less frequent as time marches on for the old timer).

When not soaking in the history and atmosphere, you're munching down on flavorful dry-aged steaks and one of the best burgers in Downtown Vegas, courtesy of executive chef Ben Jenkins, a veteran of Michael Mina's Vegas operation. Anthony Jamison, who operates the Sand Dollar Downtown on the ground floor of the Plaza, says Oscar's is his favorite restaurant in the Fremont Street area. It's hard to argue with food and scenery that perfectly matches the timeless tone of Las Vegas, especially when sitting in the dining room's famous routuna, seen in countless movies and TV shows.
