Sweet Sin by Claude Escamilla
A chocolate fountain, from which flows the nectar of the gods, is the centerpiece of Sweet Sin, where longtime local pastry chef extraordinaire and two-time world pastry champion Claude Escamilla is at the helm. This chocolate isn’t just for decoration. Try pairing it with one of Sweet Sin’s ice creams, with flavors such as Madagascar vanilla, New York strawberry cheesecake or tiramisu.
Macarons, for which Escamilla has become justly famous, come in a rainbow of colors and flavors. Or maybe indulge in a Macream-Cake, which is chocolate sponge with praline cremeux and cheesecake icing, topped by a macaron.
Other choices include Sweet Sin’s delectable doughnuts (Escamilla points out that the holes have no calories), warm apple or bananas Foster crepe or Nutella waffle. The multitude of bonbons are sweetly indulgent and as colorful as the store.
And if restraint is a must, there also are sandwiches such as smoked salmon and roast beef.
