Hafez Persian Cuisine

$$

The family-owned Hafez distinguishes itself from the bulk of the generic Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurants in Las Vegas by proudly proclaiming its Persian roots, represented in the present day by Iran.

It celebrates that heritage in specialty entrees of characteristically Persian dishes such as soltani, which brings a ground-beef kabob and a skewer of barg kabob (filet mignon), charbroiled over an open fire and served with saffron and basmati rices and a broiled tomato; the shish kabob soltani substitutes a beef shish kabob for the barg.

Chicken wings may be a little more familiar, but these are prepared with a twist. They’re infused with Persian spices, charbroiled over an open fire and served over sangak (a bread that’s baked on a bed of small stones).

The menu also includes whitefish, salmon, lamb and chicken kabobs, plus stews such as fesenjan (the famous tahdig crispy rice and a number of vegetarian selections).
