BBQ Mexicana
A casual sister concept to celebrity chefs Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken’s Mandalay Bay institution, Border Grill, BBQ Mexicana infuses U.S. barbecue with Mexican spice in a casual, quick-service setting. And after years serving local sports fans at T-Mobile Arena, Allegiant Stadium and the Las Vegas Ballpark (as well as conventioneers at Mandalay Bay), it now offers a menu of burritos, bowls, tacos and salads on Sunset Road, near the intersection of Durango Drive and the 215.
Among those singing its praises is Neon Feast’s Al Mancini, who lives near this new location.
Mancini says, “BBQ Mexicana’s Smoked Brisket Burrito (aka the Burnt Ends Burrito) is a Las Vegas original created on a food truck, that was becoming something of an urban legend among local foodies, even before Chefs Susan and Mary Sue gave it a brick-and-mortar home at BBQ Mexicana. It’s since become a staple at Las Vegas sporting events. And the fact that I can now get it at in my local neighborhood is some of the best culinary news I received all year. The fact that they added a drive-though window makes it even more convenient.”
Chef Recommends
"Besides that irresistible Smoked Brisket Burrito there are tacos, bowls and salads; kid-friendly fare like chicken tenders and quesadillas; and fun sides that go beyond chips and salsa to form a completely satisfying take-home meal, stuff like chili-lime broccolini and chipotle mac and cheese," says Las Vegas Weekly. Las Vegas Magazine says, "the Smoked Tofu Bowl with cilantro lime rice, quinoa and charred corn relish offers a lighter bite without sacrificing deliciousness."
